Accessible Healthcare Services for You

At Volunteers in Medicine, we offer primary care, preventive services, and chronic disease management for individuals who have insurance but struggle to find a doctor or afford high deductibles. We accept donations.Our independent nurse practitioners charge a nominal fee for some services, like physicals for licenses. 

New Access Options: Telehealth services are available on select days, and home-based care may be offered when medically appropriate. Contact us to learn more about eligibility.

Eligibility for Services

To qualify for our services, you must live or work in Schuylkill or Carbon Counties, PA, and have a gross income at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. You must also not be eligible for Medical Assistance, Medicare, Veteran’s Benefits, or have private insurance, and you cannot be seeking care for injuries covered by Worker's Compensation or conditions caused by an automobile accident.We will, however, always make reasonable exceptions, when presented to us.

For 2024, your household income must be at or below the following: $25,760 for 1 person, $34,840 for 2 people, $43,920 for 3 people, $53,000 for 4 people, and $62,080 for 5 people. Again, we can always be open to exceptions.

Dispensary

Once you are a patient at Volunteers in Medicine many of your medications can be filled through our dispensary at no cost to you. Pharmaceutical companies donate medications to our dispensary for low-income patients. If we do not have the medication you need, we can assist you in completing a Pharmaceutical Assistance application (available to our patients).
